Clay Ranch – Great Elk Hunting!

The Clay’s are offering what is, arguably, Wyoming’s finest large ranch on the market in recent history.  The Clay Ranch has an elegant home, a very scenic setting, and tremendous opportunities for the serious outdoorsman.  The ranch itself is largely protected by a conservation easement, but it is also bordered by protected lands including the Tensleep Preserve and the Big Horn National Forest.  Big elk, deer and most other Wyoming wildlife have miles of excellent habitat.  For the hunter, here’s the elk-of-the-day #1… taken from the Clay Ranch in 2007.

Osage Hills – Big Price Reduction!

I spent some time on the 185± acre Osage Hills property last week and was reminded of how quiet the area is and the privacy to be found on the property.  Osage Hills is within commuting distance to Gillette, Upton, Moorcroft and Newcastle and is fronted by a well-maintained county road.  The property has quite a few trees that provide a nice scenic quality to the property, but also are a great resource for wildlife and livestock.

A 2-page flyer and map of the Osage Hills property is available herePriced at $154,900 or only $840/acre.  Please call or email for more information or to arrange a showing.

Evening Shots

So what does a ranch broker do after real estate class is over for the day and she is far from home? She goes exploring & drives the backroads…. all just to see what’s ‘over there’.

Last night after my real estate class was dismissed I had to go see some new country.  After looking at my Osage Hills listing (see next post), I found a nice, winding backroad and drove til it was nearly dark before heading into my little motel room.  I like ranch country and I like mountain country.  Last night I was in ranch country and it was beautiful…

(Please excuse the dates – fresh batteries and I forgot to update the date setting.  All photos were taken on 06/08/2010)

Good night….

Professionalism

Experience is a great teacher – maybe the best.  But I’ve just spent 24 valuable hours in a cold hotel conference room in what we call “required’s”.  I’m referring to required continuing education to maintain my Wyoming real estate license.  In addition to the required courses, I must take another 21 hours of elective credits to keep my license current…. That’s 45 hours of continuing education for each 3-year licensing cycle.

While I put a high value on my time, the education is valuable, too.   And while no one really likes to take time away from our work to go to school, it is important business.  In Wyoming we are licensed real estate “professionals”.  That designation wasn’t always a part of the real estate world, but it is today and we are glad for it.  I work hard at providing professional service to my sellers and buyers and believe that you should expect a professional.

Find out more about our Wyoming real estate licenses at the Wyoming Real Estate Commission website.   I am also licensed in Montana and you can find out more about Montana licensing at the Montana Board of Realty Regulation.

So if you’re interested in buying or selling a ranch or recreational lands (river, fishing, hunting, mountain, plains) in Wyoming or Montana, I’d be glad to be your professional ranch broker.

Coming Home

The Shining Mountains

Coming Home!

After a long – but good – day of showing properties to prospective buyers, its always good to see the beautiful Big Horn Mountains.  They were called the “Shining Mountains” by the Native Americans for the bright snow-capped peaks along the 70 mile mountain range.  This photo was taken after leaving Worland and I’m on my way to Ten Sleep and on up over the mountain.  While I’m up there, I always keep an eye open for a herd of elk or a moose or two in the willows.

FYI – The Big Horn National Forest extends over much of the Big Horn Mountain Range.  The mountain offers a great diversity of uses.  Wintertime recreational pursuits include snowmobiling, snow-shoeing, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and even sledding.  Warmer weather opens the country up to fishermen, wildflower and birding enthusiasts, ATV & ORV-riders, hikers & backpackers, trail riders, and campers. Special attractions in the Big Horns include historical and archaeological sites such as Medicine Wheel National Historical Site, guest ranches, and the communities located at the foothills.  And lastly, autumn brings the much anticipated elk, deer, and antelope hunting season in the forest and on private, federal, and state lands throughout Wyoming.

WYO Miles – Esterbrook

Yesterday I had the good fortune to travel through the Esterbrook area south of Douglas, WY.  I love the Laramie Range and need to spend a lot more time in those mountains.  The country suits me and I’m quite sure it does many others.

I’d describe Esterbrook as a summer recreational hidey-hole.  There are private homes/cabins tucked away in the forest below the massive Laramie Peak.  The Medicine Bow National Forest is close, and the area looks to be a sweet spot for wildlife.  If you’ve got access to a fishing stream it’s got to be great, too.

Large ranch operations have preserved much of the country in open space.  I’d love to spend a day gathering cattle there one day.  The views are amazing.

Bailey’s Rendezvous – SOLD!

The sale of Bailey’s Rendezvous closed early this month and I’d like to congratulate both the Buyers and Sellers!  A large part of the reason I enjoy the ranch brokerage business is for the people I meet from all over the state of Wyoming and the country.
